Welcome to the Gommans family. We are a close Helmond business. The core is Nice to Wear: markets, people and clothing. Around it stands Gommans & Co, the wholesale that helps other retailers grow. Gommans Apps makes it easier for our customers: POS, planning and training, at a price that makes sense.
At Gommans & Co it is not about one hero, but a strong trio. Gerard brings decades of retail and market experience: he feels the floor, the customer and the collection. Dennis builds the digital engine — webshops, ERP and Gommans Apps — so trade and systems stay in sync. And Ingrid is indispensable: she keeps the books tight and runs the markets, week in week out. Without her numbers and her presence on the floor, this family business would not stand where it stands today.
Father and son set the course of trade and technology together. Mother keeps the backbone firm: administration, overview and the direct bond with market customers. That is how Gommans & Co stays down-to-earth, family-driven and ready for tomorrow.
Hard work, markets and physical stores. On 22 August 2014 — Mathijs’s fourteenth birthday — Gerard and Dennis registered together at the Chamber of Commerce in Eindhoven under the name Nice to Wear. With Ingrid and later Jesper we travelled the country, stood at successful markets and proudly opened two clothing stores in Helmond.
The pandemic stopped everything. Bills kept coming, income disappeared. With a heavy heart we closed our two stores. What followed were years of hard fighting — Gerard, Dennis and Ingrid kept the family business afloat. As a family we did not give up.
Out of necessity a new strength grew: IT. Dennis taught himself to code and built webshops, the website and our custom ERP. In parallel Gerard and Ingrid kept the trading line and administration alive — markets, bookkeeping, customer contact. What started as cost-saving became the digital engine of the company and the foundation under Gommans Apps.
Gerard and Dennis joined forces in Gommans & Co V.O.F. Gerard keeps Nice to Wear and the markets sharp. Dennis leads wholesale — import from Turkey, China and Poland, workwear, sourcing for SMEs and chains — and Gommans Apps. Ingrid remains the quiet force behind the scenes and at the market: bookkeeping and market days that keep everything running. From Markt 39 B in Helmond.
